Another steering question for Aaron or anybody

Thanks for reading, I took the plug out of the top of my steering box today (YM2610) and bent a piece of wire, dropped it in the hole to see if it had any fluid in it, it has something, looks like grease, my question is did any Yanmars use grease or do they all have fluid, if its supposed to have fluid, can I just add it on top of whats in there now??? till I can get time to take it apart, it may be awhile, and Aaron will your parts book tell the size of the plug, not sure but I think it BSP thread. We have discussed this point on the board a few month ago.
Soundguy (and others friends on the board) told me that when such a device is leaking some people put in it "liquid grease". By this way they don't have to resealed it. So I am not sure if this grease is factory originated or not. Try a search on the past topics on the board matching the words "liquid grease"

Thanks Danny and Euro, it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be, with help from my son, a piece of clear plastic hose and a quart of 90, it went right in with no problem, run it over a little, but who cares, it now has fluid, and I'm sure it didn't have any fluid in it at all, now I get to see if it leaks, hope not. anyway Thanks again and keep up the good post everybody. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Robert /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Take the drain plugs out just enough to see if there is water in the hub. Someone mentioned a product called hub-oil thet is used to seel leaky hubs and reported good results with it.
