Great Spring weather, here in NY this weekend. I decided it was nice enough to awaken the Jinma from its long winters nap. 10 seconds on glow plugs, and starts on first try. I was a little surprised since the winterization I did, was much less than previous years.

Battery was left in tractor, clutch was fully depressed, and fuel was topped off, with including a run-in of conditioner/anti-gel. A tarp covering, is all that protected it from the elements.

Ground is still too soft, so only was able to run down the well drained areas, and clean out the burn pit with FEL. Still was nice to get back on the tractor again.

Happy tractoring to all, for the coming season.

John, I hear ya on the nice weather. It was 73 degrees here Saturday. I was a raking fool but ground a little too soft for tractoring fun.
Was nice Sunday too but started raining in afternoon. Wouldn't you know it, now possible tomorrow. Either way Spring is not far off.

I never heard that winterization step before. Did you tie the clutch pedal down with rope or something? Makes sense - to keep the PTO clutch disc from sticking to the flywheel - just never thought of it before.

I had a block of wood between pedal and floorboard. It was recommended to me from Mike Stuart, of Maverick Tractors. I have heard of people having issues with the plates sticking to the flywheel/plates, when left for a long time, especially in non-dry climates.

That is a good idea. Our kioti tractors have a hook that will hold the clutch pedal disengaged for long term storage. Its been spring for a bit here now, had some 90 degree weather already, today was a mile 70 with blue skys. Hard to stay at work, but managed to get my 13 hours in today...

Hey John,

That's Great John. Spring has been in full bloom, down here for some time now, Not really much Winter this year down here.

Today, it felt like the start of Summer Time Down here on the Coast.

I bet, having your valves in proper adjustment, also helped the engine to wake up more easily.

I heard one person, say that it was Hot!!

Have a nice day,

By time things dry out here, you will be saying its to hot and humid to be on the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Overall, the biggest surprise, was the chinese battery. Up to this last winter, I always removed it, and kept it charged in the basement.

I think you should simply stop storing it in the winter john and get on it to plow all that snow you get up there /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Mine starts every snow storm with little more than a few extra sec of glow polugs, still no oem china battery too which has never been OUT sine I put her together... leaving the key on for 2 weeks once was only time I figured the battery would need replacing, but I keept the maintainer plugged in since and never have had even a slow crank unless it was below 20 something out. coldest was last winter when it was -8 when I put on the heat lamp as I was stuck in a 2' deep snow bank, praied she would strat figured it was in for it. took 3 hole tries to fire but did just that /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mark,

Given my "light" winterization, I could of pulled out the big guns, if we received any major snowfall. I think the largest snowfall we received this last winter, was only 8-10". Also the number of storms was down from other years. The walk behind snowblower does fine with that amount, given my driveway. This year, many of the big storms went east of us. Sections of eastern NY, Conn, and Mass, received more than we did.

like here this year, lots of storms but little snow total. ICE was worse again, (nowhere as bad as last year) maybe 2 snows over 3" is all, better be ready for more next year. lol. I think I only plowed ONE time with her this year (2 at most) was very mild temps as well... luckly with these gas & heating/fuel prices.
