Hi guys,

Im looking into buying a plasma cutter. I have Oxy Acetelene but i find it very difficult to use. I am going to give oxy propane a chance and if it doesnt work oout I will buy plasma. I seen this one on ebay. Can some of you guys who know aboout them tell me whether this one is decent or not? Cant see myself ever cutting anything over 12mm plus I only have single phase.

I've used a torch for years. Bought a Plasma Cutter a year ago. Now I use my torch to light the wood stove in my shop. :) Love my Plasma Cutter. Speeds up fabrication considerably. Lot cleaner cuts. Very cheap to use. I have a Miller 625. I paid $1400 wholesale. My metric conversion talent is limited but here's the specs on it. Miller - Plasma Cutters - Spectrum® 625

I don't think oxy-propane will be any easier to use. It's just a slightly lower flame temperature.

Why not have your torch checked out? There may be something simple wrong with it or maybe your technique. Cutting ought to be easy....easier than torch welding for sure. Make sure you're using the right tip and gas pressures.

My exp has also been that oxy-propane makes an uglier cut too.
