You can't see how much clearance there is between the ram and the blade so I question the wisdom of putting his hands there with the ram coming at the blade.
The other thing why don't he have the split wood feed off the end of the chute?
That is a neat idea.
Other than that I wounder how that would split a piece of oak or madron that has a lot of twist and a lot of knots in it.

its scary to look at it !!

There is only half a handwith of clearance between the press head and the splitting blade... He has to be right on time to pull out his hands before getting them squeezed...

For his ingenuity I have to give it to him. Sticking your hands in that unit, no way in h*ll you'd see me doing it. If he cut out the bottom of the bale chute it would unload the wood automatically. Don't think it would take much more to automatically load a new block if he rigged something up on the side of the plunger.
I'm with charlie C, I'd like to see if that flywheel would handle a nice chunk of oak or apple before it came to belt screaching halt.

That splitter would have to be in my worthless category. What is he doing? Making toothpicks? I could split that type wood twice as fast by hand. Plus any horizontal splitter is a back breaker. It is a nice blivet.
