Hi all,

I know the families of the Canadian soldiers killed in Afganistan by friendly fire would appreciate all thoughts and prayers. They are from the Edmonton Base, so our city...and indeed the country, is mourning. It is a tragedy for soldiers to die in battle, but even more so when it is seemingly meanless due to friendly fire.

It truly is tragic./w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif Military people go into battle understanding that there is the very real possibility of injury and/or death. But I don't think any military person expects it to happen as a result of a stupid mistake by their allies.

My thoughts and prayers are with their families, and with all the military forces that are fighting this terrible battle.

Indeed our prayers go out to the ones and families that have fallen..no matter what country they maybe from.

We're hurtin' here, too, Kevin.

Those soldiers were like family, as Canada is, to many of us in the U.S. There's nothing fun about war, and losing a loved one to "friendly fire" is a really tough one. Lost a few of our own that way, too.

Those men and their families are going to be in our thoughts for quite some time.

All deaths are sad, it is even worse when they are preventable.
Our prayers will be with the friends and families.
