John Deere 3033R
Hi everyone,
I’m considering trading my 2014 3033r for a new 2018 2032r or 2038r, many reasons but one being I just moved from Western NY that had 28 acres and an elevation of 800 feet to a 5 acre property that sits on a mountain here in Montana with a 5400 foot elevation.
I presently have a large back yard for mowing and a very long 1000 ft. dirt driveway that goes up a fairly steep driveway to the house. Lots of snow here this past year and gets pretty icy.

All I will be doing is some loader work, box blade work repairing long driveway in the spring, mowing and probably pushing lots of snow, hate the thought of attached snow blower because I think I’m to old to be attaching and Unattaching to put the loader back on. I’ll probably just get the manual 5 foot blade that attaches to the loader arms so I can pile the snow high.
I have the 6 foot hydraulic blade on my 3033r which works well but I think it may be to heavy for the 2000 series, the 3033 goes sideways sometimes pushing snow with this blade so I’m thinking a smaller blade may be better- thoughts?
This may not be appropriate here but I could sure use your opinions regarding should I get the 2038 that's turbocharged or will the 2032 which is about the same hp as my 3033 will be fine.
Should I consider the snow blower or am I correct that it’s a pain to switch to the loader?
Anyway hello to all, I’m excited about joining this group and can’t wait To start learning from your experience.

Your dealer will advise the decline in performance in relation to elevation. No personal experience but some have been critical of the Aluminum rear axle housing, Durability issues?

If you miss the property tax structure on NY, let me know, happy to share my costs w/ you.

If it were my, if I incurred the expense to relocate the tractor, I'd keep what I have, save the depreciation loss.

Lol oh I was paying 2.5 times the property and school taxes in NY. A big reason to leave.

I think the frame size of your 3033r is going to help you in all you wish to do. Dragging a blade or pushing snow I would be more concerned with frame size and weight than a few perceived forced induction (turbo) hp.

Diesel engines are not as effected by altitude as gas (naturally aspirated or turbo charged).

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Can't help on the snowblower question... The worst we get here is a heavy frost. :)

Enjoy the site.

Thank you, I really appreciate your honesty and thank you for your service. I know your probably correct but I really want several new attachments which I can’t swing unless I buy them with a new zero percent John Deere loan. My property and garage are much smaller now, my biggest challenge each year will be the long dirt hillside driveway, snow and spring repair. I also want a flail mower for my back lot and around a pond.
