JD 5105
hi - just wanted to thank you guys for all the helpful information - this is my first post after reading the forum for months. i took a good hard look at JD, kubota, kioti, Ford New Holland and MF and after looking, reading, and operating them all i went with a JD 5105. not only did i find the JD to be superior in most ways, but the service from my dealer (can i mention them? not sure but mods feel free to delete if i am not supposed to mention them) Palmetto Lawn and Liesure in Lexington SC. They went above and beyond in every way, and had the lowest price to boot. My salesman was awesome and knew everything there is to know about tractors. They even demo'd a small 790 which helped me to decide to go with the bigger 5105....i am a firm believer in what you guys have said about a good dealer making all the difference in the world...

My real excitement tonight is because I got a bulldozer stuck up to her eyeballs...(with mud coming over into the back seat) and my new 5105 PULLED THE DOZER OUT! made a sucking sound that was heard for at least a mile, but i felt like a proud daddy! (can't wait to tell my salesman on monday) i immediately went and washed the new green baby and thanked her! And thanks to you folks too.

Welcome. It sounds like a wonderfull start to a relationship that'll last many happy years, just like a marriage of sorts.

And don't worry about buying "green". The rest of us non JD owners will forgive you ... given enough time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Man I almost fell out of my chair when I saw your post. I live on Lake Murray. I am still looking and trying to decide between Kubota and JD.

JD had pretty much priced themselves off the planet and the Palmet. L you mention was the highest place I been to until last week when I stopped by to look at one of the new 4000 series. They must have had a major change there because one of the older guys who has been there forever quoted me list price and could have cared less if I bought or not.

Send me a private email and let me know who I can speak with there.

Thanks

just sent you a private reply with teh name of the salesman you want to speak with...

since we live so close, you can come out and operate my tractor if you'd like just to see if you'd rather have the 5105.

i'm not sure why more folks don't get the 5100 series....i paid less than they wanted for the 20 series, and i got 50 hp and 4wd in a 4500 pound monster. oh yeah, did i tell you it pulled my dozer out? i am still beaming about that.

Congratulations on the new tractor! Sounds like you found a good dealer and got a deal that made sense to you.

It seems like you are already putting it to good use. That would have been a good picture to post.

Be safe and have fun.

hugh, not sure what loader it takes is it is intended for ground engaging - to plow, box blad a driveway, landscape rake to prep for seed, bushhog, etc. not sure if this is correct but i went with a gear drive since it will be pulling a plow. Going from forward to reverse is a little more combersome than with hyro. hugh, to save some money I got JD to make it loader ready and if I decide i need a FEL i will put a bush hog brand on it and save about $1,500...

about the picture, yeah i kick myself for not taking one...frankly i was too scared since ih had never gotten a dozer stuck that deep! the hole has filled with water and is now a small swimming hole!
