I have a B7510 with a FEL equipped with turf tires. I've been moving quite a bit of dirt lately and have been plagued with front tire problems. I'f like to go to the stiffer R4's, but replacing all tires and rims is > $1,000. Is it feasible to run R4s on the front and the Turf tires on the back? Eventually I'd move to R4s all around, but I'm looking to sperad the cost out a bit as mywife thinks paying for our children's college is more important than my Kubota.

If mixing them isn't feasible where can I get the best price for tires and rims?

thanks!
Jack

On my BX2660 I moved a lot of rock, gravel and dirt and never had tire problems after the slow leak was determined to be a rim sealing problem. I fixed that myself with a rim sealer product. Note that you need to raise the psi in the front tires when working with heavy loads in the FEL. The tires were the turf type and didn't have any punctures from nails, thorns etc. Maybe these tips will save you some headaches and money.

I've spread at least 100 tons of road base and top soil with my BX2660. After over 200 hours, no tire problems. I use turf tires that have about a pint of Slime® in each. When I run heavy FEL loads, I increase the front tire pressure to the sidewall max pressure. I also run in 4WD for FEL work.

My neighbor has a John Deere 855 with R4 front and turf (with chains) on the rear. It has been this way as long as I can remember and has moved a lot of horse manure over the years without any trouble from the mismatch.

Check the tire diameters of the R4's to make sure they are the same as your turfs. If so, I don't see any issue with running the fronts different.

When I inquired about turfs for my BX24, the dealer recommended I keep the R4's on the back, and put turfs on the front for my situation.

I know that's opposite of what you are asking, but same mismatch concept.

Some tractors have different size turfs than r4's so it would throw your gearing off.
