Looks like another possible hydraulic problem developed.

Started tractor today, outside temp around 0 degrees, recycled glow plug about 7 times but started ok.

I let it run about 15-20 minutes to warm it up before using any hydraulics. Went in house while it was warming up...came out and I had an oil puddle on floor mat coming out of the steering column. I then moved tractor inside and removed plastic cover. Oil leaked out from the power steering unit.

Anybody else have this problem? Haven't called dealer yet but will have to. Even though I know he is so busy(like Mick Jagger) that I wouldn't receive much satisfaction. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I asked dealer a while back if he was interested in buying it back...he doesn't want it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ron,

I'll buy your tractor, but you know this already as I've offered before. Of course being 1500 or more miles from you doesn't make my offer real practical, but if can get me a good shipping rate, I'll buy the tractor.

You have had more than your share of hydraulic problems though, and that is too bad. It sounds like you have a leaking power-steering hose. It would probably be best to have all the power-steering hoses replaced at the same time, as it is a little bit of work to get to them. There were a few failures on these a couple years ago, but most of them with faulty hoses failed quickly with low hours.

I am not familiar with low temps, so I really can't comment on how that might have played into the picture.

Dave,

If you weren't so far away I might consider an offer. Oh well, thanks anyway.

My tractor wouldn't be used much now with winter here...only snow removal when needed. I'll have to wait until spring now to see what happens then. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm starting to get used to having problems here and there with it. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Wondering & waiting to see what will be next.....Have a Great Holiday season

Hi Ron,

I am just catching up on things. I am sorry to hear both about your tractor troubles and more importantly the health issues of your family member. A few years back, I lost my dad to lung cancer.

As for the tractor, I wish you were closer to me. I would yank my dealer out there and I am sure he would get to the bottom of your trouble. Do you suppose your relief valve is working / set to the right specs?

Anyhow, if you depart from the branson clan here, who am I going to get all the good ideas from? I love your grill mods, and toolbox mods. If you bail out, can I trade you my grill for yours before you sell? Maybe I can talk my wife into a second tractor. That would be a long shot.

I hope you get things straightened out.

Yes it does "suck" "really sucks"

Pete glad to hear from you since didn't see any posts for a few months.

Thanks for your concern about my brother & sorry about your dad. Lung cancer is one of the worst. It does make these tractor issues seem piddly.

My control valve was replaced in the past after the first hose blew but hoses blew again later.

Instead of talking your wife into it...buy it and tell her it's her Xmas present. I'll even gift wrap it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Anyway....talked to dealer today and he is going to pick it up Friday. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and play the waiting game for awhile & hope for the best.

Happy Holidays All

Good luck Ron. Too bad you don't get to enjoy your tractor like I do mine. Mine has been great. Only problem is a crack where the fuel filler neck joins the tank. Trying to get the dealer to get a new tank before I take it in.

mudcat,

I'm glad you enjoy your tractor. I do enjoy mine, just don't enjoy all the little aggravations that came with it.

Dealer was suppose to pick it up last Friday(12/9/05) but no call-no show. I expected as much. Talked to him today and he said he's coming today. Have my fingers crossed. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Better also cross my toes.

Happy Holidays,
Ron
