I was doing maintenance on my DK45 SE the other day and pumped a few squirts of grease in the spindles and noticed that no grease escaped at any point, so I pumped some more and still nothing. I stopped because I didn't want to pop a seal or something. So how do I know if these have enough grease ?

Also, it is extremely hard to pump grease in either zerk on the center of the axle pivot point. I got a couple of pumps in and grease was actually coming back out of the fitting.

Thanks

Two pumps and stop. Once every 50 hours. It goes inside and falls and mixes with the front axle fluid. Same as for the front axle pivot Zerk.

Well, we should be good for SEVERAL more hours !!!!!

Wow, I've never heard of that. Must be a Kioti thing, no flame intended. Sounds kinda silly to design a system that contaminates the gear oil like that. So every 50 hours you pump/force dirty grease out of the center pivot and/or outer hub swivels into the gear box? Understanding that it's contaminated by the metal grindings of use and whatever outside dirt can get in there.

Hmmm,, maybe my Kubota is that way too, but I don't think so. I pump grease until I see grease. :confused3:

The rear pivot zerk on your Kubota, works exactly the same way. No place for the grease to go but into the cavity, to eventually mix with the fluid. I can't remember if the Kubota's have zerks on the spindles or not.

On my Kubota there is an oil seal separating and sealing the oil from the grease area. There are grease O-rings to help keep contaminants out. When I pump grease, it oozes out. On the front of the pivot grease oozes out as well. On the outer knuckles, same thing as front pivot, no connection between the oil pool and the grease.

Now on my 30 year old Ford there is no oil seal separating all this at the rear pivot. There is only an O-ring. So if you over grease there is a chance at least for some of it to ooze into the oil pool. I think this would be minimal as there are no O-rings to help hold the grease in on the outer end so it oozes out pretty quick when pumping in new grease.

I looked at the parts drawing, and yes it appears you are right, there are O rings that would seem to seal it off from the fluid cavity.
