With all this talk about gauge wheels I thought I would show you Land Prides version. Maybe you guys can get a idea from it?

I've been thinking that there must be a way of using threaded rod in a linkage similar to this to adjust the height of gauge wheels. It would operate like a screw type jack to adjust the wheel height, but it would be in a horizontally angled linkage sort of like this one. I think it would have less stress on it than welding a trailer jack at a 90 degree angle to the gauge wheels.

Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the pic. Thinking that the same setup would work for my landscape rake. I notice that the rake by itself could do a better job on removing the washboard effect from the gravel in the driveway than it does. Thinking a wheel could do a much better job. That setup looks easy to duplicate, looks like the top link turnbuckel would adjust depth. Thanks again,
Chris

I don't suppose you could post a photo of where and how it is attached, right now it looks like it attaches to the post.
thanks

Nice wheel. What is the tennis ball antenna thing?

The key to this is resurfacing the entire driveway and not just filling in the lows. You have to cut the whole surface, and then regrade it.

A rachet type load binder would make an excellent adjuster. and it would be easy to quickly change the height. but with that said a 12" hydraulic ram would be the best setup if you had a remote for it.

I really like that ratchet binder idea for adjustment. I have a question: Do you have trouble with the ends of the blade digging in with a single/centered gauge wheel? My Woods has considerable horizontal slop which concerned me at first until the gauge wheels were installed and now the slop plus the wheels follows contours.

You could replace that turnbuckle with a hydraulic cylinder for adjustment if you wanted. Not necessary but pretty cool to have.

I made my own set to fit several blades and rakes, even my rotary cutter. I made them so they are quick attach and with 2 free swiveling wheels.

I gots to be honest. I havent used this set up much at all cause I mad this leveler right after I bought the blade with tail wheel. The times I have used it I was kind of thinking that 2 tail wheels would be better and would help with the blade rocking and diging in on the ends as you said.

I put on a tractor driving competitions in my area and it is a tool that is used to put on 3 different games. The names are Kercher string game, forward and reverse tennis ball stop. I posted a link of the rules at the bottom of the page.
