I hope I don't annoy anybody with another Gator Blade question, but I am stumped! I have a 1042, and have looked at all the links posted for Gator Blades for other machines, and I can not decipher what blade/number I need for my tractor! Can anyone help me out?

First try and find out the number for regular cub cadet blades.Maybe in your manual, sometimes there are part numbers for plugs, belts, filters, blades etc. then try going to this link matching your cc pn to blade size (length, width, thickness bolt hole size.to a gator blade that crosses to your CC pn.Lawn Mower Mulching Blades, Agricultural, Garden Sprayers and Parts they have several for CC 42" decks but some have 2 blades, some 3,some 2 different ones.

Try 91-940 for the gator. its a mix between the 3 in 1 mulch and the standard.
The standard lift is 759-3824 (same as 759-3018) for the standard lift. i have changed to the std lift but intend to try the gator next year. You can find the dim, etc using the blade part numbers on the net. May of the sites say 3 required, not sure why they say that for the xx42. Guess its a carry over from the larger cut one with 3 blades. Length dimensions are from the corner cutting tips.

Mine is the GT2542. I assumed that the 1042 used the same blade but not sure as I just noticed you gave a different number for the std 3 in 1 blade. Anyway, use your number to search the web and get the dimensions for the 1042 in case its different from the 2542 deck.

vctress, I really appreciate all your efforts in trying to help me. I am still pulling my hair out though. I have too many numbers in my blade no. and in the one you just provided to match anywhere! I checked the link above as well as outdoor power, and nothing even close. What am I doing wrong in trying to find the blade for my machine?

Try Jackssmallengine site....jackssmallengine.com
Jacks site for the blade is about $12 and his shipping is about the lowest.
His site also has all the dimensions listed.

After some checking, the 1042 uses the same blades as the 2542, which I have.
The 3in1 mulching blade listed in the manual has been updated to 759-04081.
The non-mulching blade is 759-3823 (also carries a duplicate P/N 742-3018).
The Gator blade is 91-940 or 9194.
Hope this all makes sense.

Keep me updated on what you think of the performance of the Gator. Like I said, the hi-lift blade is better than the 3in1 (at least for my grass) but I intend to try the gator blator next spring as from what I read, it should perform better still. I did not like the 3in1 as it beat too much water out of the grass both with and w/o the mulch plug. I prefer not to use the mulch plug, but will try both ways with the Gator next year. I think the hi-lift was a marketing name only (as only the tip had a wing) , where the Gator has a bigger wing over the full blade for greator lift. I also have the chute raised about 2 inches at the tip, but not so much as to defeat its function of deflecting any thrown pebbles. Just reciently here in the news a car window was shattered from an incident like that where there was no chute deflector. It now throws the grass out 10 feet or so instead of dumping it out only 2 or 3 feet.

Will do Charlie. I am anxious for them to get here and try them out. I have never been impressed with the job these blades have done since day 1. I use the mulch plug, as I have white stone surrounding 8 trees in my front/side yards, and have to try to keep them clean.
