I got a couple more stumps dug out today. This long leaf pine was over six foot long! I tried digging around it in an attempt to push it out, but was just entirely too deep. Took the grapple and managed to wiggle and pull up, until it popped out. I brought the back tires off the ground several times!

I want a grapple too! I have to figure out the plumbing first though, I want an electric diverter valve with the switch on top of the loader lever first, that is just my **** attentive nature!

I went the simple route, and just ran hoses to my rear remotes. If I decide to add hydraulics to my box blade, I'll need to consider other options for my grapple. Using the remote lever is not as convenient as the loader control with buttons, but it works pretty well.

Yea I am already using one of the rear remotes for the top link and I will most likley be getting the side also so I want to go the whole 10 yards for the front. I am not in too great of a hurry because winter is setting in and I will not need it till the spring/summer, I have to take the tractor in for some warrenty work the front drive shaft is leaking, so while it is there I will be asking where to tie into I assume it will be after the loader valve but I am not that up on the newer hydraulics. My 1960's backhoe is real easy but the newer stuff seems to have a lot more in's and outs that get used, so I am just a little nervous of jumping into a more complex system.

That is one heck of a taproot. The ones I dig out usually have some substantial spurs coming off also that keep you from just pulling it out. Lone trees I can usually dig all around and cut the roots with the back hoe, but the last one was between two large ones and I had to saw the spurs off then pull it over with a couple of long chains and a tow strap to get enough distance. It wasnt nearly as big as the one you got out though.

Oh my gosh I have learned so much in the last day about how to plumb a third function to the front of my tractor, thanks littleblue for the PM it got me started. I was trying to make this so hard by wanting to make the third function its own totally independant function, when all I need to do is utalize the curl circuit and a diverter valve. I mean how much easier could it be!

Hopefully next spring I will be getting a grapple also. I have been following all the grapple threads. It does seem the switch on the front end loader joy stick would be the way to go. I was wondering is they make a partial diverter that would allow curl / close and dump / open bother operate. Not having one yet I am not sure if it would be any advantage to both operation on occasion.

Glad to help. The idea of using a momentary switch to divert the curl/dump circuit to operate a grapple came from the TBN hydraulics forum. Tons of good information there! My next hydraulic project might be installing a manual double-selector valve like this:

It would be up high on the back on the back so I can easily use it while in the seat. I only have one rear remote and need to be able to divert from the 3 pt. top link to a side link for a tilt function. Sure wish I had bought and installed the dual-rear remote kit from LS instead of the single kit.
