Tsunami's require deep water earthquakes to develop large volumes of water that sweep on shore. The initial report I read suggested that this earthquake was in relatively shallow water, that will minimize the amount of damage we should see from water. I'd suggest staying off the beach, but I doubt we'll see the devistation we saw with the last one.
