I finally got tired of living with the 62C deck on my 2305 not working right, but good enough to get the job done.

I got mine straightened out today and decided to share what I discovered.

I got out my deck installation instructions (LVU14819 C3) and the operator's manual (OMLVU14333 D3) and studied them both.

Both manuals clearly state that when the deck is in the fully raised position the adjustment knob should rotate 360* with no stops. If it doesn't rotate 360*, you need to adjust the lift rod assembly.

This is a rod with a threaded yoke at each end, running above the rear axle from the frame above the deck to the bellcrank on the end of the 3-point hitch shaft.

At installation, the locknuts on the yokes are loosened and the length of the rod is adjusted (by turning the yokes on the threaded rod) to 24-1/2" from center of hole at one end to center of hole at the other end.

Then you raise the deck, turn the adjustment knob, and if it doesn't rotate 360*, you lower the deck, loosen the lock nuts, and twist the shaft to make it LONGER. Keep lengthening the shaft until the adjustment knob rotates with no stops. (I needed to increase the length by about 1/4" on mine).

Next step was to ensure 1/16" clearance between the lift arms and the frame stud. (My lift arm was hitting the stop stud on the left side). Adjustment is made by removing the pin through the lift arm and yoke and turning the threaded yoke (clockwise to raise the lift arm, counterclockwise to lower it).

I won't post all the details, but then I adjusted deck height left to right and front to back.

Now my blade tips are 5-1/2" above the ground with the deck fully raised. The deck can be raised or lowered in 1/2" increments with the adjustment knob.

Life is good when the tops of the grass blades are level after mowing :)

Nice write-up! Although I'm trying to find someone with a 54c deck (to trade for my 62c), I'm about to do the same adjustments on mine.

I purchased an x595 last week and am slowly working my way through it, doing maintenance, tightening things up, and generally getting to know the machine.
