We had the exact same thing happen last Saturday night with our youngest pup! She and our little border collie always run in the pastures at night for a "bedtime tiring out" thing! Anyway, the doors fly open and back in runs this pup, the border collie and the wife right behind them. I'm sitting in my lounger listening to the 10PM weather and instantly got a nose full of skunk!
The wife took the pup into the guest bathroom and gave her a full bath immediately, using doggy body deodorizer too. She then followed with the Border Collie, doing the same thing! It was too late though as the whole house reaked of skunk!
When the dogs emerged from their baths and deodorizing, they were in pretty good shape, smell wise, but the house was in real bad shape. Everything they touched, brushed, or even got near on their way to the bathroom was put outside on the back patio and had to be washed the next morning.
Meanwhile, I used the OUST and sprayed the snot out of EVERYROOM!! We eliminated about 75% of the smell, but with that smell, 75% isn't enough. The next day, after washing furniture covers, bathtowels, washcloths, bathroom mats, ALL the wife's clothing from the night before, and my clothing too where the pup first rushed in to let me know about the skunk! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, we were finally free of that odor!
Next, I had a long talk with that pup and the general crux of the conversation was something along the lines of, " Black cats with white stripes down their backs are NOT for playing with"!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Good luck with your skunk problem, and just know that you're not alone!!
