I was interested in building things pre-computer, and how hard that might have been. So this is the result of my exploration in to that. Its a series of three bird feeders made using only the measuring tools people had in the distant past, but also cheating by using modern cutting tools.
I can see why there were guilds in the 11th to 16th century. The angles must have been the protected knowledge. :)

That looks nice. I made 10 bird houses during covid that I'll be taking down soon to see if any have been nested in.

A neighbor of mine builds fancy birdhouses, sells them for $$$ at craft shows, etc. Far as I know he does his same way as you...power tools but no high tech. Lotta work!!

I do know that making these in volume will require the construction of jigs. Free handing the pinning of the roofs is a difficult thing to get it right. :) I do like the fact that this is re-use of wood that has already been worked in to planks, that other wise, would just be waste.

They are going to look nice in your yard. I've always wanted to make some myself, but I lack the creative ability to come up with something that I like, the time to do something for fun instead of doing what needs to be done, and that my wife buys them all the time from the different stores around here.

What are you going to use to hang them? Once we have one that needs hanging, finding a quality hanger that she likes can be challenging!!!

Creativity occurs in the process of doing. Don't let first thoughts stop you. I had already decided these would be horrible failures at the start, but it was useless wood anyway. I had NO ideal how to make a 10 sided sloped roof structure. It was a fun challenge and very much enjoyed the restriction of only using a compass, protractor and a straight edge, eye balling fits, and just guessing at and thinking about the angles. These will be on posts. We don't have many squirrels here. :)
