Amsoil alternate?

I bought a used snowmobile this fall. The other owner mentioned he ran nothing but Amsoil in it. It's a Yamaha sled and they make their own brand of oil called Yamalube. The Amsoil is $30 / gallon vs $18 for the Yamalube.

My concern is blowing the motor (liquid 600cc). Should I stick with the Amsoil or is there a cheaper oil that works just as good.

I'm not an oil expert, but some of you who are I'd like an opinion, or 2, or 3...........

I've asked questions about Amsoil 4-stroke and diesel oils on here before because I didn't feel like I knew much about it, not just technical knowledge but even from just a user experience standpoint.

When it comes to Amsoils 2-stroke oils, I am still not knowledgeable on the technical side, but have loads to offer from a user experience standpoint. Amsoil, hands down, is head and shoulders above even other synthetic oils that I have used.

Take this for example: I owned a Polaris Scrambler 400 2 stroke ATV. I was running the expensive Polaris synthetic oil. If the blasted thing sat for more than a month without being cranked, I had to take it in to have the jets cleaned. I eventually sold the ATV, and bought my first PPG rig. I bought it used from a guy who had never had any trouble out of it. I started using my leftover Polaris synthetic oil. If my PPG motor sat for more than 2 weeks or so, it would not crank. It would be gummed up so bad it was ridiculous. I eventually was recommended to try Amsoil in it. Not only did the problem clear itself up by switching to Amsoil, I was getting about 15 pounds more thrust and was able to stay in the air about 30 minutes longer on a tank of gas. CHT temps also decreased dramatically. 30 minutes of flight time added to a normal 1 hour and 50 minute flight time is a SIGNIFICANT increase.

I can't say bad or good about Kawasaki's oil, but I can sure say that Amsoil did the trick for my high performance 2 strokes, even compared to another synthetic.. comparing it to dino 2 stroke oil just plain isn't fair.

I have been using the super high quality Amsoil Racing 2-Stroke oil in all my chainsaws (Stihls and Huskys) and my Evinrude and Yamaha 15hp outboards for years now, it is absolutely the cats meow.

I'm not advocating this oil but just passing on the information. Out here in my neck of the woods, snowmobilers use Redline almost exclusively. I know nothing about snowmobiling, have yet to even sit on one, but I know Redline's other products are superb. The one drawback will be the price, it's just about the priciest stuff you can buy.

Now that Amsoil sells direct on the internet, how do dealers prices compare?

Dealers pay a membership fee and get a discount price. You can also join as a 'preferred buyer' and get a similar discount direct from Amsoil. If you spend more than $100 per year on oil, lube and other products they sell, joining makes sense.
Dealers will charge a price comparable to the regular price on the internet.

I have a 1995 Yamaha jet ski. We've had it since it was new. We have only used Yamalube in it. No problems at all. For Yamaha products i don't think you can go wrong with Yamalube.
I would like to try amsoil, but have not found a dealer in my area. I still do not understand why NAPA or other auto stores won't carry amsoil oils.
