Oil & Fuel Amount of oils in a 1975 Ford 2000 Diesel

Guys,I have a 1975 Ford 2000 diesel and bought a shop manual for it.Problem is,the shop manual doesn't tell how much oil goes in the engine or how much oil in the tranney.If I remenber,the engine holds a little more then 7 qts.

I lost the dip stick last week and I need to know how much oil goes into the engine.That way when I place the aftermarket dipstick in,I can mark it.Also,in the near future,I plan to drain the hydraulic system for an oil change and need to know what oil and how much.

The engine says 8 qts. but 7.5 is more like it. I've got the 6 speed trans and I'm pretty sure that I bought 3 gallons and filled until the fluid seeped out the fill hole on the side. The rear end takes 25 qts. but again, I bought a 5 gallon bucket and filled until the fluid seeped out of the fill hole.UTF works well for trans & rear end.

Thanks,just knew someone had the info here.What I did was when out and bought a new oil dipstick that is for a 350 SB.Once I drain the engine,I will cut the new dipstick to size,add 6.5 qt of oil and mark it and then add another qt and that should put me very close to a safe running level.That 7.5 is with the filter?

This weekend,I will get to the rear end and tranny.Any type of oil I should go with or any to stay away from?I'm new to tractor maintence,but know my way around other heavy equipment.

Oh,I forgot.My tractor has the 8 speed tranny,power steering.What oil goes in the power steering and the oil bath for the air breather?

Yes,7.5 with filter.

The trans,hyd.,& p/s will all use the same Universal tractor fluid. Ford Spec #134. Napa, Walmart, Tractor Supply,...any one of these places should have what you need.

Use the same oil in the oil bath that you use in the engine.Rotella 15w40 is a good diesel engine oil.

You might find this web site handy.

FORD TRACTOR

8 speed may need a couple more qts (13-14). Any extra is always handy to keep around.
