Using a lathe? Need TPI tables? Lost of other stuff?

Thanks to Google proper, we can view and download (click the PDF link after following the link below) this very handy resource.

I am not affiliated in any way with this service, just thought some of you many find this helpful. I've attached a pic of a small snapshot of one of the tables. Very handy.

This is a digital copy of a book that was preserved for generations on library shelves before it was carefully scanned by Google as part of a project
to make the world痴 books discoverable online.
It has survived long enough for the copyright to expire and the book to enter the public domain. A public domain book is one that was never subject
to copyright or whose legal copyright term has expired. Whether a book is in the public domain may vary country to country. Public domain books
are our gateways to the past, representing a wealth of history, culture and knowledge that痴 often difficult to discover.
Marks, notations and other marginalia present in the original volume will appear in this file - a reminder of this book痴 long journey from the
publisher to a library and finally to you.

I didn't click on it but must be quite a large download. Ive got a hard copy, 11th edition, 1941, 1800+ pages!
There is a ton of information, but most of it is over my head.

709 pages, 2nd edition, 1914. Much of the older stuff didn't change, but some newer stuff won't be in it (about 1100 pages worth, eh ;) )

I just used the threads table to determine if I'd have enough material left by turning down 5/16" -18 threads to 1/4" -20. Not exact, but close enough.

I've done some very basic stuff on a lathe before, but my lathe/machinist/gunsmithing buddy passed away recently, so he isn't here to do it or show me how. Digging out and cleaning up my Seneca Falls Star (circa 1920s).

Came across the above info and some stuff and thought maybe someone else would be interested. I get a lot of info from the folks on this site (directly or reading old posts) so I try to contribute if I can.

Here's a link to search Google's online public domain books. I was seaching for how to do a taper on my lathe so it's in the link, but you can put whatever you want in the search box.

Thanks for posting this Diskdoctr. I downloaded it 24 Megs. I like the older books because I use so much of the older equipment this data comes in handy and it doesn't change much.

Glad it helps you, Glenn. Sometimes when posting, you don't know if it is of any use to anyone or if you're just wasting forum space ;)

I use a bunch of older mechanical equipment, too. We can't all justify a CNC, though I respect those who use them.

For about $65 you can buy the 28th edition of Machinerys Handbook and it will tell you just about anything you want too know adout machining. Speeds and feeds, trig, threading etc. A must have if you are going to do much in the way of machining.

Hi, John! Welcome to TBN.

Do you have a link to the site to order the book for $65? Would be nice to have, in case someone wants the later version.

Yeah, the books are quite detailed!
