Hello All! I need a new home for the tractor. Wife would like me to get it out of the garage as well. Has anyone on this wonderful site had any experience with the American Duro Beam Steel Buildings? They are listing prices on Ebay for a 40x60x12 for $11775 which seems like a good deal. Of course when I change from a 1/12 pitch to at least a 3/12, add insulation, couple of doors, etc etc, the price will probably spike. I appreciate your feedback if you have any experience with this type of building. Other suggestions are welcome as well! Happy Tractoring!

Check what they don't provide. A concrete pad to their spec could double the cost depending on location by the time you are done.

Ive put up many a steel building and they are all pretty much the same construction. A 1/12 pitch will be adequate as long as you mastic the joints. The concrete slab is very important It is not only for a good surface to work off of but in terms of kips for a metal building to put it in laymans terms it holds the building down in heavy winds. You need more holding it down than you do holding it up. A good figure to get as an estimate for the total building is to figure that the cost of the shell being 1/3 of the cost. you said that the steel package was around 11k so the complete building will end up being 33k. that covers the slab, insulation and doors.

Thanks for your reply. Would you say that the 33k would cover the installation of the slab, shell, insulation and doors as well or is your estimate materials only? I don't think I would build a building without a concrete slab!! Any idea what a guy could save installing the shell and insulation? Maybe hire the door installation out. Thanks again.

That was probably just a basic building price- frames and siding. No trim, gutters, etc. Shipping charge? Check around for a more local dealer.
If the person selling it, is also an erector, for a building with no more than a 10 foot eave expect to pay ~ 5 -8 psf for installation. Taller eave heights are pricier. Get lots of recommendations and receipts and contracts - there are very unscrupulous people everywhere. Pay the building deposit directly to the manufacturer.

One thing for sure, if you can figure out how to put it up, you don't need to hire the doors out.
