What kind new or scrap? Scrap prices depend on the type and you usually get more for solid stock 1/4 inch or thicker, just like scrap steel. New prices will vary greatly depending on the type of aluminum and in what form it is bought.

Last fall I sold some scrap aluminium printing plates. The scrap yard was paying $.61 a pound.

Are you selling scrap or buying?
Around my area there's a place that sell 6061 T6 or 7075 billet remnants for $1.50 a pound. You can get plates up to 6" thick and rounds of all diameters. I make all kinds of fixtures for my machine shop out of it.

To the original poster chris28 - Are you selling or buying the scrap aluminum? It also depends on what kind. Thick stock of known types will often bring much more than thin or unknown types.
