Had the Alternator go out on my G1900S...took out the fan belt also. It was original, so 30+ years old and over 2000 hours. Got one on Amazon, next day delivery, and picked up a replacement belt at my local dealer (Dealer was twice the price for a non-Kubota Alternator, 3 times the price for a Kubota Magneto). Not bad install, except that I had to take off the deck. I got kinda lucky as one scalp roller fell off, and when I stopped to fix it I smelled the burning, and found the fried Alternator (could have cooked eggs on it). As the fan belt also runs the water pump, the engine could have gotten hot real quick.

This thing seems to cost me $200-$500 a year to keep going...this year it was some welding on the frame and then this. Borderline on getting a new mower, but the engine is still strong, no leaks, no oil burn.

Lol...yes, alternator. Don't know why I had magneto in my head when I wrote that post. Should have just gone with 'thingy that creates electricity'.

The great thing - you can still get parts for a 30 YO machine.
