As some know I've been checking out an alternative to front ags that would be a bit more lawn friendly for that occasional foray onto the grass but still have lugs for traction. This seemed to be the radial tire. To replace the 7x16 ag would require a different rim and with the radial tire prices (anywhere from $450 to $850 for one tire) the new tired front end would cost anywhere from a thousand to 2 thousand bucks. I may have found an alternative for any of us that have that medium size tractor (Kubota 3000 series,Kioti and Bobcat C series, Mahindra 16 series, etc.) with the same concern of the grass as I have. This would be the Carlisle Tru-Power tires. You would still have to change the rims if you do not have turf tire rims laying around as the tire is calling for a 10" wide rim but the cost is a fraction of what the radials cost. They fit the acceptable percentages for lead lag if you have 11.2's out back, have a 1700 lb rating per tire and are 6 ply tubeless. These may be a viable alternative to some of the turf friendlier aspects of radials. The tire pictured is the 29x12.50x15 and even looks like a radial.

You might be disappointed. On my last Massey I had 4 rib tires and they would still tear up the turf if I didn't slow down on a tight turn. On my new Massey I've got R4s (15.1-80-18's) with a really tight tread and they are about the same as the old 4 ribs. I've got to slow down on a tight turn.

Possibly Mark butI know with the radials this wide, no scuffing of turf resulted even when they were trying to by making speedy tight turns. I'm sure the compositional structure of the radials had something to do with that. At any rate they have to be better than the skinny, knife like action of the ags on grass that seemingly no amount of slowing down helps to prevent damage. I have to make turns similar in width as the Queen Mary does to abate as much damage as possible and still there is turf scuffing. Your Massey is also a heavier tractor where in this situation weight adds to the dilemma.
