In my search for a TLB, I've come to see Allmand machines as a viable option. Seem capable, even if the gas engine models seem to wear faster.

But, when trying to search out info, seems Allmand does not list tractors in their product line on their web site. Are they still in that business?

Im not sure if they are still in business, but Allmand makes a nice unit. Terramite does also.

Allmand is still in business, making portable lighting it seems, mainly. They are out of the TLB business, according to an email I just got from them. I'll update this if they respond to my inquiry about how long, or it, they are going to support the existing customer base.

Kinda makes a difference to my thinking about a few used ones I've been looking at.

The response I got was not encouraging. Perhaps I got the wrong idea, as the fellow keeps his replies to, like once sentence, but it appears they are not going to go out of their way to support
existing customers beyond current stock of parts. "special order" after that. And no comment as to tech support.

I see quite a few used machines (not all that cheap), but I'm quite disinclined to consider them for fear of being stuck with a hunk of iron not too far down the road.

And some still wonder why people buy Asian?

According to an article I read yesterday, Allmand is in the process of being sold to Briggs & Stratton. Sale is apparently not yet concluded.

Got a link or hints how to find it? Is that Allmand entire, or just the TLB business?

The news article I think I found on the Construction Equipment magazine website. It is the entire business, but the TLBs were discontinued several months ago. I have no idea what kind of support they will provide going forward.

There is little on an Allmand that can't be bought as hardware elsewhere or made easily enough. Engine, pump, hoses, valves, etc., are probably not special to the Allmand. I say this for the homeowner that is handy and is patient. I would not want one in rental or commercial use application where waiting a week or two would cost a loss of income. We have sold a few over the years (used) and they are pretty simple machines. We do see the gas engines expiring with fairly low hours sometimes, but you can order one online and it isn't much harder to install then an engine in a riding lawnmower. At the right price, they can get a lot of work done. The thing I disliked about the last one we had was it had just one range for ground speed. About 0-5 MPH is all you have, so driving across 40 acres to do a chore is best done with a cup of coffee and some patience.

Allmand was sold to B & S and continues to manufacture light towers, portable heaters and traffic arrow signs under the Allmand name. The TLB line was discontinued a few years back so they could focus their Engineering and production efforts on their core products as listed. Allmand continues to support the TLB models with parts as available and continues to provide technical support. The Allmand TLB models were designed as component tractors utilizing appropriate commercially available components with the exception of the steel fabricated components. This should allow for replacement parts from the component manufacturer if not available from Allmand. Many of the Allmand steel fabricated components may not be available but in most cases a competent fabrication or weld shop can repair or reproduce as necessary.
