Allis D-17 hydrolic pump removal

my pto quit working last year while bailing so I fianally now am getting round to fixing it . i drained oil from the oil pan below hyd. pump and removed pan and found bearing cage and pieces in pan . To get at shaft and were bearing needs to be replaced i need to remove pump . has anyone removed the hyd. pump before and if so can u offer me any info before i learn something the hard way
