picked up a tractor at a yard sale that has been sitting for some time can't find the model number on it anywhere . I found 2 numbers in the casting . on the bell housing it reads D17 3107 and on the trans. 120H . i am assuming that it is a D17 and 3107 is the serial no. would i be correct to assume this ? does anyone know a website where i can run those no.'s and get the year ?

Found this on the internet.

Can't find Serial Number (SN) on D17
Bruce McKay Looked everywhere... not finding the SN of my D17. Please provide photo or detailed description of it's location. Maybe I just need to use degreaser on everything as I suspect I'm not finding it because of goo! (grease)
Thanks in advance.

daryl Check on left side of engine where engine block bolts to clutch housing, Should be stamped into clutch houseing on flat part of flange.

From this website i think the serial number can't be 3107. 1958 seriaql number began at 4300.

D17 Serial Numbers:
Location: Left-front of torque housing

1958: 4300
1959: 16500
1960: 28200
1961: 33100
1962: 38070
1963: 65001
1964: 70611
1965: 77090
1966: 80533
1967: 86061
Final: 89213

thanks for the quick response don .. yes indeed it is a D17 on the torque housing followed by 3107 . I'm wondering if some of these tractors were made here in Canada ? I by no means any expert but i think it'd gotta be in the 60's because it's coil points and condenser 12 volt and has a voltage regulator up by ignition . Were all the Allis Chamlers this way ? I thought maybe the earlier ones had mags

I am afraid we may need to see some photos here. If you could, a few shots of the whole tractor, and maybe a few more of the serial #
