i have used all kinds of sawn lumber from flat to quartered but don't use just quarted unless i want the look in oak. i have even glued up panels for me from the trimmings from my table saw when i make finished lumber for others. i have eight rooms of flooring 4 mine and 4 customers and two whole houses i made all the molding for. also many stair treads, a bedroom set and one whole kitchen.
