Temps in central IL finally in upper 60s, was able to be outside in T shirt, even trenched new electrical service to my garden shed. Had spotty frost still in the ground every now and then but got the trench dug wire in conduit and ran to shed and hooked up. Got tractor hooked up with BB and filled in the trench. Just my luck, this weekend is full of T storms, 90% chance. Oh well at least it's warm:)

It's been so warm (and dry) in Texas that the weathermen on the nightly news are warning people to not set out spring flowers until the middle of March. The weather has been so warm here that it easily feels more like April than March. It would be easy to plant early and get frost-bitten plants with a mid-March cold snap. I hope all of you in the midwest and northern states have moderation in your weather the rest of the season. The folks in the midwest have sure had a tough time with the floods last spring and the tough winter you have almost made it through. You have both my sympathy and respect for your tenacity.

It has been great. We changed the oil in equipment, washed and waxed equipment. This has got me ready for spring. I am planning on getting the planter out later today and go thru it. I am sure it will need a few things done to it before we use it. I think pretty much everything else is ready to go. If this rain would miss us I think we could put on some andhydrous next weekend. I saw one guy chiseling this week and one guy plowing but it is a little wet where I am yet.

The farmer behind me has already planted and the fields are sprouting.
Driving out to the farm this weekend I saw a couple of large Deere's pulling seed drills in fields.

Would you be interested in some rain by chance. 3+ inches in 24 hours. I was watching my horse play in the pond yesterday. The only problem is.........I don't have a pond:eek:

Hiya,

I know what you mean, we had 8 inches of fresh snow and temps in the teens, yep definitely spring.

If it was still winter we would have had 2 feet and temps of 10 below....

Know what you mean, Thomas! I had my snowblower off and the FEL on, took a motorcycle out twice last weekend... only to come home yetsreday to just under a foot of snow up here on the hill.

Had a great time removing the FEL and reinstalling the blower, then 2 hrs blowing wet snow (and the occasional small rock ). Yep, it's spring.

Hang in there these cold spells are about over. I noticed the trees are budding and the grass is greening up. This little cold snap will give them a jolt.

irvingj.."Yep, it's spring."
Now that's sign of spring when one goes for couple bike runs. :)
The old natives call those snow storm sugar snow, but I got much better name for those type of snowstorms ;)

I see they have your road posted for load limts now,and added but yet another sign Muddy Road, wonder if that will slow some of those wanabe NASCAR driver down little...yikes.
I've seen and I am sure you have also some hum dingers of ditch jumping/fender benders/pushing back snow banks etc. over the decades on your road.

I came by the sign yesterday PM and didn't even see it... my daughter came home and told me about it... that's a new one. Sounds like one of those "Here's Your Sign!" moments.... The thought "No ____!" crossed my mind..:D

Interesting- that's what I call them, too-- "wanna be NASCAR drivers"-- seen 'em go by at 60 on our dirt road!

OK, more rain, on top of crusty stuff.... guess I'll see if my 2-wheel drive Jetta will make it out this AM; been using wife's 4WD Matrix the last 2 days.

Deere775, I know what ya mean about the trees budding. I have a pussywillow that is starting to bloom, I bet it's thinking twice about it now:D. I hope my apple and cherry trees don't try blooming anytime soon. We planted them 4 years ago and just got our first crop last year, the apples 4 trees gave us about a bushel of apples and the 3 cherry trees gave us about a gallon of cherries. Man were they good, and now that we've had a sample of what is to come, from the trees, I really don't want to loose a crop from an Indian summer. In 07 we had an Indian summer and of all 7 trees, I had 1 cherry tree produce 1 cherry. I really ticked off the wife when I picked it and ate it while mowing the yard:D she had to wait till the following year to get to taste the cherries:p If I get a chance I'll post a few picks of the local river that is out of the banks, it's a real site, hard to tell where the true banks of the river are.

IrvingJ also mentioned "here's your sign" we have one of those as well. Down the road a spell a road is covered with water and a sign is posted road closed. DAAAA! Although if they didn't post it I'm sure some fool would try and cross it, get stuck or worse and then sue the county. What happened to common sence? Well got to go to work, so I'm off to fire up the boat, it has a two oar motor:D

Hard to read, but here's another shot of my "MUDDY ROAD" sign.... Ya think?

Actually, it's not bad now... it gets a lot worse! That's when folks go around on a paved road, and the traffic really drops off going by my driveway; other than during major snowstorms, only time of the year that happens.

I guess we're all ready for the snow to go away!

Well the heat came back 50's this weekend. Was able to get the garden shed all wired up with lights and outlets. Kids were having fun outside with light coats on, instead of the heavy weights. Hope all are starting to get some heat, For all those in Texas I hope you get the rain you need and don't get flooded.
