JD 2025R, previously Gravely 5650 & JD 4010 & JD 1025R
I've declared my 1025R a lemon and have verbally told the sales person I'll take the 2025 I looked at this week.

I also looked at and collected information on the Kubota B2301. It wins about 19/11 in comparison against the 2025, but with it being a new model, my having to get my 1025 back from JD for them to look at, not having seen/operated the Kubota FEL, etc. I decided to go with the 2025.

It's pricey, but is very much like my 4010 with upgrades. NEVER had any warranty issues with the 4010. I had great confidence in that tractor to go anywhere and be able to at least limp back. It had plenty of hp for my needs. The 2025 and 1025 are greatly overpowered and blackening the earth with more exhaust emissions than necessary.

I'll post a review of it after using it for a bit. Hoping to get it on Monday.

Oh, the sales guy says he has a push button PTO front to replace my Walterscheid collar one. Will do a trade with him on Monday.

The oil leak (4th warranty issue out of 5) on the 1025 was found to be from the back of the injector. They've ordered replacement parts. (The 5th warranty issue I haven't mentioned here before is the fact that the strap holding the air cleaner was missing.)

Oh, the sales person says the idle spec is 1,400 on the 2025. The one I tried out and supposed getting was at 1,300 when I tried it. Kubota's B2301 can meet emissions with 1,000-1,050 rpm. I'll see about running the 2025's down. It was a difficult job on the 1025 but easy on the 4010. Both the 2025 and the 2301 seems a lot more civilized just because their idle speeds were lower than the roar/rattle on the 1025's (and roughness).

Attached is the comparison I did between the B2301 and the JD2025.

The 2025 was delivered today. The push button drive shaft for the bush hog will be delivered tomorrow.

Did some compost pile tossing. This is the most capable and goof-free loader I've had. The 4010's was slower but goof free. The 1025's had some goofiness.

More civilized tractor than either the 1025 or the 4010 because stuff can be done at lower rpm.

Sales person put my 1025 toolbox onto the 2025. Only trouble is that it blocks the hook on the top link.

Pictures to follow.

Here are the pics. Tractor came yesterday, but sales person didn't get my new push button power shaft until today. He had it cut it down, and I went and got it.

The push button on this one needs to be flatter and bigger. It is on the power shaft to my chipper/shredder. Still, easier than the collar type I had before. Think I may be able to push the button with a clamp to hold it. Couldn't do that with the collar type.

This is a more modern version of my old JD 4010, or a 4010 with more hp and improvements. Didn't need the hp, but the improvements are nice.

The sales person moved the toolbox from the 1025 to the 2025.

The bush hog doesn't lift very high with the standard 2025 settings on the 3ph. There are 3 lift holes in the vertical lift members and 3 holes in the horizontal lift arms. Looks as though I need to move to a higher hole in the vertical arms. This lift height on the bush hog is what was the case on the 4010, but it had no adjustments. One could tighten the top link to get it higher for travel with it up.

Discovered that moving the pin in the vertical member of the 3ph to the topmost hole makes the hitch control almost exact. The "2" on it now means that the Frontier bush hog is 2" off the ground in the front.

Before you get to far into raising and lowering the rotary cutter may I suggest you watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vBFJcvs5SE on how to measure and cut a PTO shaft, then measure your system and see if the length of yours is correct. Also if you shorten the top link it will raise the rotary cutter.

I put this in the Reviews section:

I've used the 2025 enough now, with 3 implements and some loader work, to review it. It's my 4th tractor.

The 2025 is a beefier version of my 2nd tractor a JD 4010, with position control on the 3ph.. It seems to also have a slightly more modulated startup of the PTO but not as smooth as the startup on my 2nd tractor, a 1025R. The slam-on PTO of the 4010 very likely destroyed its drive shaft donut that caused me to part with it after 9 years.

This is the best FEL I've had: faster than the 4010 and more goof proof in response than the 1025's. It also seems to be more of a "digger" than any of these 3. The Gravely doesn't count on this tally.

The bush hog works on the factory setting of the 3ph, but there isn't much lift, and it rides somewhere about mid point or higher on the position control in mowing position. A more ideal setting is to use the top hole in the vertical 3ph member. Lift is rather high, and "2" on the position control is almost exactly 2" off the ground. This is with my Frontier RC 2048 lift pins in the lower position. (My 4010 was delivered with its LX-4 bush hog lift pins in the upper position. This didn't work because of simple geometry. Lifting the LX-4 would drive the tail wheel into the ground because the top link was too long.)

HOWEVER, I had to reset the vertical 3ph member back to the middle hole to attach my carryall. So, I replaced the factory cotter pins with quick pull pins. There's no higher hole on the carryall to move the lift pins to.

Attaching my MacKissic TPH-122 chipper/shredder worked fine with the 3ph vertical member in the middle hole. It may attach with it in the upper holes, too. However, the turnbuckles that tighten the lift arm swing are just short enough to slide the lift arms onto the Mac's category 0 lift pins.

Running both the bush hog and the Mac at 2,700 rpm vs. the "PTO" speed of 3,000 give plenty of hp. I ran the bush hog through some very high brush/small trees at one point in cutting a new trail around a huge downed tree that's unsafe to easily cut.

I've repurposed both the bush hog's and the tractor's document holders. The top of the tractor's document holder is now a much more acceptable cup holder than the dinky factory indent one. It's attached to the right side FEL tower. The bottom of the bush hog document holder is now my fire extinguisher holder. It's much more sturdy and secure for this than the fire extinguisher's clamp that I attached the same place (to the right side fender) on the 4010.

One big negative on the 2025 is the folding ROPS. OSHA should allow a non-folding ROPS like was on the 4010. It fit nicely underneath all 4 garage doors plus the carriage house basement doorway. These doorways are all safe as long as the ROPS on the 2025 stays folded. I'm not. JD, maybe a "halo" over the radiator area would allow you to interpret the OSHA rules to allow a less-than-doorway-height non-folding ROPS? Give us something we'll use, for safety.
