Aerator & Irrigation system Don\'t mix!!!

Thought I was doing my pops a favor by aerating his lawn. He has a lot of clay & it was quite compacted - never aerated in 14 years.

Well I sprung about two dozen leaks in the irrigation system that either wasn't buried deep enough, or moved to within 1.5" of the surface due to 10 years of frost. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

My dad took it in stride as we figured out what parts we needed to repair the holes. He's going to work on it this week & I'll be down again next weekend to help him finish it up.

When I was a golf course superintendent (in a former life), I found the way to locate your irrigation lines was to aerify. It is amazing how 18" deep can get so shallow. It is much better than cutting a bunch of phone lines or especially fiber opic lines.
