Hi,

I am looking at purchasing a Woods BW180X 15' rotary cutter for pasture shredding.

Having never owned this brand of machine, can anyone share any experience, advice or any issues / problems with these cutters? I mow approx. 65-70 acres ranging from nice open pasture to rough, thorny, brushy areas and a few miles of tree lined senderas.

Thanks for any info!

Jay

My local dealer just priced me one at 12900 with chains and foam filled tires. I was looking about one for a Kubota 7040 with 64 hp at the PTO.

I sell Woods equipment, the BW180X is one of the better cutters on the market. Woods has a deeper deck and higher blade tip speeds than the competition. We've never had a 180X (or any Woods batwing for that matter) back in the shop for warranty work.

That being said, Land Pride and Bush Hog also make solid cutters.

I would recommend. My brother and I co-own a couple of Woods cutters. One is a BW-180 we bought new in 2012.

Had one warranty issue with a bolt that stripped out of the splitter gearbox that holds the shield down. The bolt worked lose with vibration and trashed the threads. But it was fixed and covered under warranty at a local dealer. No other issues since then. Been a great cutter. It cuts clean.

Thanks for all the recommendations, sounds like a solid cutter to invest in. I'm going to stop by the local dealer in a couple of days and see if we can work something out. :)

They are the cutter of choice in my area, our renters have two and really like them. They use them on several hunter acres. We've had good service out of our DS1260, but as mentioned others make good cutters as well.

I would recommend and buy another BW180 in a heartbeat. We have used ours similar to what you describe. 60 -70 acres of rolling pasture and some steep hillsides. New BW and Kub.JPGIt leaves a beautiful cut. Here's a picture of ours brand new just before it was initiated. Notice the new paint still on the under-side :)

They are also very popular in my area.
