adjusting wood chipper feed roller speed

My Bandit 250 wood chipper has some hydraulically powered functions. Specifically, the two horizontally oriented feed rollers are fed by a single line with no regulation feature. I would like to be able to control the speed that these rollers turn. If I could adjust them to turn more slowly when pulling in larger diameter wood and more quickly when being fed smaller diameter brush, I believe the efficiency of the machine would increase.
Would a flow control valve be the thing to install in the hydraulic line ahead of the directional control valve? If the flow is reduced. do I still have the full "pulling" power of those feed rollers, or does actuator power also drop off when flow is reduced? Am I looking for something other than a flow control valve?
I realize this 12" capacity chipper is not a tractor, but...I pull it behind my Ford 1720. That counts, right?! Ha!

Thank you J.J. Now that I think of it, that's a valve that I've seen used on a big Vermeer chipper for the exact purpose that I need. Next item: a hydraulic winch for my chipper.

J.J. Thanks again. Electric rather than hydraulic may be the way to go; I'll have to give it more consideration. As I use the chipper commercially, I'll be looking for a more robust winch. At times I pull heavy trees back against their lean when felling them. I also winch heavy logs uphill to the truck. I now can see the beauty of an electric winch: with mounts on my chipper, on my tractor, and on my big chip truck, I can quickly and easily move the winch to whichever machine I am using that day. One desirable feature for me is rope, such as Amsteel Blue, rather than cable for winch line.
