I normally don't have much use for cruise control around my place on my DK35se Hydrostat. But recently I have been hauling fill rock and dirt from a neighbors house to mine, a distance of 3/8 of a mile. One bucket load at a time, so cruise control has now become important to me.. Well mine was not working 100%. If you were pedal fully down when you set the cruise, it would sometimes slip back to a slower speed and not hold the preset speed. So it was time to check it out. The manual calls for a pedal to cruise magnet clearance of 1 to 1.5mm. But also not mentioned in the manual but I think of greater importance is getting the magnet "square to the pedal in the vertical dimension".. The slop of the pedal linkage exceeds 2 millimeter side to side. I would recommend taking a thick business card and putting it between the magnet and the pedal after you loosen the 2 bracket bolts as shown in the photo, that hold the cruise magnet bracket to the frame member. Then adjust the cruise magnet against the pedal, taking care to get it square and not crooked. There is quite a bit of play once you get the bolts loosened. Then hold the cruise magnet with one hand and tighten the bolts with the other. The nuts are welded captive on the other side of the bracket so you do not have to fight with that. Then slip out the business card and check to see that the pedal does not drag on the magnet. I believe that my problem had less to do with clearance than alignment. It works now, and I can give my foot a rest.
