I'm a layman, and you're not going to like the answer to your question... Kubota, in their infinite wisdom, put the access cover BEHIND the right side loader mount on the
L3400. I would think the
L3800 is the same. Small rectangular cover, about an inch and a half by three inches, two bolts holding it on. You'll need to remove both the loader and the right mounting bracket, unless they've changed something.
You remove the cover and you might be able to see one of the three screws. If not, use a pry bar on the edge of the flywheel to rotate the engine slowly. That's right, a pry bar, because Kubota, again in their infinite wisdom, didn't put a bolt on the end of the crank, just a splined shaft for God only knows what.
Once you see the screw, you'll need a 14 mm open end wrench to loosen the lock nut. Once it's loose, turn the screw clockwise until it touches the pressure plate. You might be well advised to mark the square end of the adjusting screw so you can tell how far you've turned it. This IS NOT a great design...
Once the screw touches the plate, turn it back out 3/4 of a turn counterclockwise, lock it there with the nut, and you're done with the first one.
I've checked mine twice, and both times they were fine, no adjustment needed. I assume you have the L3800DT model?
Good luck!
