Kubota BX25
Anyone out there know how to adjust hydraulics in order to get more lifting and digging power?

Check your operating pressure and make sure it is set to the specs from Kubota. If it is not in the proper range you will need to adjust the system relief valve.

If you are a serious DIY mechanic get the BX 25 Shop Manual through your dealer. Pressure is controlled by the relief valve and raised up or down by changing shims in the valve. You need a gauge, a forged steel reducing tee and a set of M/F QCs to determine existing pressure and the changes you make. I just ordered a varied bunch of shims to raise my pressure to probably around 2100#. The manufacturer will not tell you what their upper design limit is and the dealer shops will stay only in spec due to liability; so, you are on your own. I have always been a risk taker and tinkerer so I will determine those limits by trial and error.

Ron,

Have you tried this yet? If so did it make a big difference? I am a slow learner and can't leave things alone so I'm sure I will give it a shot if it works. Thanks

I have done it on mine - its not as hard as you think. However - you need to understand the effects of putting too much "power" to lifting on these small tractors. Oldnslo is correct - you need to start with a baseline and check your current pressure. Many of these BX's come shipped with relief valve a tad on the weak side. I bumped mine to be right a tad over on the recommended PSI knowing that over time, the springs will weaken and be tad under again. It made a huge difference IMHO.

If you are not familiar with hydraulics setup - perhaps it might better for you to buy the kit from BXpanded.com that comes with everything you need to check pressure and bump up the pressure as needed. I know harry (owner of bxpanded) will definitely will help you if you become stuck with directions with kit - but I am pretty sure you wont need the help as its pretty straight forward.

04, I just ordered the shims and they are in the mail. There have been several posts on this subject and results sound positive. One post even showed a means to reinforce the FEL frame. My goal is to be able to lift pallets of firewood both with the FEL frame and the 3PT. I would only lift about 1' high to keep COG low as possible. I am making a set of forks to work on both ends interchangeably. The shop manual is very clear on how to add and subtract shims. It cost about $80. Well worth it. It has saved me several times that on not paying dealer shop labor. I have even toyed with the idea of putting larger lift cylinders on the FEL. Negative there is it would slow down movement bdue to limited GPM on the BX25.

Makes since. Let me know how it works defiantly something I'm interested in it if I works. I would to like to lift just a little more and have a little more digging power with the BH.

I really wish they would put bigger pumps on our little tractors. On my 1026r I can barely dump and lift at the same time. Even 1 gpm would help a lot!

I tried out a Deere first and have been a die hard fan for years, and noticed their. Hydraulics operate at idle. Kubota doesn't but it will lift and dump at the same times when above idle but they could go with bigger pump for sure. I would like to be able to dig through roots without fighting every little one. My buddy has a old ford that is smaller and out digs my kubota hands down. I would have went Deere but couldn't beat kubota financing
