Greetings all!

I have a L3130 (513 loader, so limited lift capacity), and have decided that I need a grapple (and SSQA), along with some pallet forks to get some work done.

I stopped in at my local dealer this afternoon and was given the following:

Third function kit - $1100 installed
ATI Quick Attach adapter - $900
ATI adapter weld on plate - $285 - I do the cutting/welding

The sales guy looked up the L2230A part I have read about here and other sites, said it wasnt available. I also have not been able to find it online or at places like Messicks.

Beyond this, I am thinking about a Wicked 55, and a basic pallet for setup, so that is going to put my total up around $5k to get this stuff.

Am I missing something in not just ordering the WR Long 3rd function kit online and saving that $300, and something like this to weld on the back of my bucket, and then just finding any old pin-on QA kit for the loader?

It's often difficult to impossible to find wholegoods item numbers when using online part sights, such as Messick's. L2230A is a wholegoods item number and not a part number, so it won't show up even if it is still available for purchase either online or when calling parts department. Need to discuss with Sales and they can determine if it is available.

Another option is to find the kit (L2230A) bill of material and see what hose, fitting, etc is different from the most recently available kit say from a Grand L40 or L60's series tractor. Buy the kit and the few items that are different.

Added in edit:
After posting, I learned L2230A is the quick attachment, I originally assumed it was for the 3rd function. The advise of looking up the bill of materials isn't relevant for the quick attach, but would be for 3rd function or anything else that has a number of items that make up the kit.

I used to own a L3130 with the larger(724) loader, nice tractor. You are limited with the 513 and adding the quick attach will limit further(more weight).Third function from Kubota is nice but pricy.
You may want to consider a thumb welded(better yet bolted) to your existing bucket to save money and weight.I have a Green's machine thumb and quite happy with it.

My opinion. The 513 loader would work fine with a SSQA.
The 513 has very similar specs to my loader (Kioti KL1450).
I have SSQA and the loader works just fine. I have no complaints about lift capacity. Easily handles any thing I can fit in my 72" bucket. (also handles my 9' snow plow and 48" pallet forks no problem)

IF you can do welding and fabbing yourself. you can save a fortune.

We did the LA463 loader on dads L3400.

Bought a pair of latch boxes for ~$100. Bought the SSQA plate for ~$100.

Choose to go diverter instead of third function. The valve was ~$150 and maybe had $100 in hoses in fittings.

Two people and done in a day for ~$450 total

Unfortunately I didnt get any pics of the conversion. But the main parts:

https://www.amazon.com/Conversion-A...argid=aud-801738734305:pla-566928638373&psc=1

The loader arms were already the perfect width. On the latch boxes you see a pretty generous area for welding the attachment points to so you can pin your loader on. If you strategically remove the pin on brackets off the back of the loader.....you can basically weld these right on. No need to try and re-create the pin-bosses and mounting point. All you need to add is the torsion tube that connects one latch box to the other. I think we used a piece of 2x2 heavy wall tube.

Once those mounts are strategically removed from the back of the bucket...simply weld on plate....
5/16" Attachment Mount Plate for Skidsteer bobcat kubota

Then the hydraulics
Chief Stackable 12V DC Solenoid Operated Circuit Selector Valves: 13 @ 345 PSI GPM, SAE 8 Port Size, 45 PSI, 22934 tied into either the curl or lift function and add a button of your flavor to provide power....or opt to spend a little more and get a joystick with buttons

Thank you all! My concern was that I would see a large drop in quality going one way vs the other, but it sounds like it is a matter of time and effort, which I can swing.

NYbirdman - The bucket thumb/grapple was considered (as well as bucket forks), but the concern is moving the weight out further from the pins meant quite a bit of lost ability in the loader. While I bought it knowing the specs and I am fairly confident it will handle all that I need it, I dont like the weight so far out front.

LD1 - I'm very interested in adding a grapple to my M4700 so I looked up your links -

The first link showed
attachment.php

the lever arm being handle-hinge point-latch spring with a spring above where the hinge point is

and when I looked up the similar part at Titan (the second link) it shows
attachment.php

with the additional spring above where the latch spring connects.

Other than the approximate $100 difference in cost which one is better? Or was one just assembled wrong for pictures?

I am assuming one was assembled wrong for pics.

The spring is supposed to provide resistance/friction so when the levers are up, and you are detaching, the handles dont fall down and re-latch under their own weight.

Those are not the ones I specifically ordered, I actually ordered the plate and latch boxes off ebay for similar cost. But it was just to illustrate what was needed and an approximate cost. Alot of people simply dont know what they are called and had a hard time searching/finding anything.

Simply google SSQA latch boxes and take your pic. I am not advocating one brand over another. And have no idea of quality differences, as I have only been down this road once

I bought my MX with the quick attach fel, added the EA grapple and WR Long third function after. I think you may be onto something if you want to pin on the grapple. I did some serious damage to my fel when the quick attach came loose on one side while using the grapple.

After digging around I found a local guy with a new take-off SSQA bucket, checked with another dealer and got the Kubota L2230A part ordered for my FEL (the Kubota SSQA parts for the LA513 loader), and placed an order for the WR Long and Wicked 55. I debated on the grand I would save with a different grapple, but in the end decided to go ahead and go with the stronger/material. It will get quite a workout for a few years, and I dont want to worry about bending or repairing as the property I am working on is bare and away from my home.

Forks are last up on this purchase (and covers my budgeted total for the tractor purchase anyways)!

Sort of a lame reply, but the more costly SSQA lever set has grease nipples, for one thing. The springs look to be assembled wrong, as was noted. I think you'll be fine with your L3130. I had one for a couple of years (it was just too big and heavy for our needs) but although it wasn't fast, it had plenty of grunt- the trade off for only 31 HP was speed. It's a good machine. Mine had no third function- just used the tilt circuit for swinging my SSQA snow plow. Now I have a rear remote which I use, and I think it works just as well as a third function for most things. Maybe not as handy, but much lower cost. Just some 12' hoses and mounting blocks.

Varmint,

not lame at all, I definitely would want a way to grease things, and I anticipate the Kubota part will have that integrated.

If I had rear remotes I would have just got longer hoses to run up front for the thrid function, but this will have to suffice.

To the tractor - grunt to get things done was the goal - my property wont have more than a couple of cleared acres, and a lot of woods, and the other spot it will be used is only about 5 acres cleared, with a small garden plot and mowing being handled by a commercial zero turn for the most part. The tractor is just a work horse, so it should be great.

Thanks!

Mine were cheap and had grease fittings.

Being assembled wrong for pictures is no issue for me.

Spend $100 or spend $900. Your call, not mine!
