Kubota MX5400
I've got a Kubota MX5400 that I use with a Woods RD-990X to mow about 4-5 acres of turf airstrip. The MX5400 was bought for the sole purpose of mowing, so it does not have a front end loader and the associated hydraulics. (On the dealer lot, it did have a dealer-installed loader, but this and the joystick were removed prior to the sale.) I am now thinking about trading the RD-990X for a Woods TBW12.20 12' batwing finishing mower. The TBW12.20 uses hydraulic cylinders to fold the batwings. My questions are these:
  1. How complicated/expensive is it to add a hydraulic line and control for the batwing mower?
  2. Is it possible to add just the single line to the rear and control, or will this require some sort of quick-disconnects and joy stick as is used for a front end loader?
  3. Is there a DIY kit to do this, or is it best left to the dealer?
  4. The Woods TBW12.20 is nearly $16,000. If I had the selling dealer also install the hydraulics, should I expect some substantial discount on the hydraulics installation?
Thanks for any comments and/or advice!

You have no rear remotes? Very uncommon.

If you need to start from scratch getting a rear remote you're probably looking at about $1k in parts...if you can get them. But other than that it's fairly straight forward.

Do you have a aluminum manifold next to the hydraulic filter under the right foot floorboard? Should have 3 hoses going to it? Dont know if that is removed on non-loader tractors. But if that is there, it has all 3 hoses you need.

If that manifold isnt there......you need to find the pressure line coming off the pump and going to the 3PH. You need to uncouple that and feed a new remote valve. Factory valve is easier to install, but more expensive. If aftermarket valve, you need to be sure it has PB.

The PB would carry on to feed the 3PH. Then you need to add a 3rd line as a return to tank.

Then the work ports would go to your couplers and however you choose to mount them.

If you do have that aluminum block, check out the link in my signature line for installing remotes on a MX5100.
