Add FEL to hydraulic system

I built a front end loader for my Bolens G154 TX1300F. I bought a hydraulic kit to operate the arms and the bucket. This kit runs off my battery and the alternator cannot keep up with keeping the battery charged when I am using the loader.

This is the kit I am using:
MTE 4 way Pump. 6 quart poly tank. Dual Acting (power up, power down) on 2 separate circuits. Industrial Duty bearing motor. 12 volt. Adjustable psi to 3000 lbs set at 3000 lbs (1.7 GPM). This is for Power Up, Power Down applications when there are two dual acting cylinder circuits. Load holding on all ports. Ports #6 SAE o-ring. 36 lbs, 21 x 9.5 x 10. 18 foot Remote control with 3 magnets on back included. Great for wreckers and applications requiring power in 4 directions.

Can some one show me how to add to the existing hydraulics on the tractor so I can get rid of the kit. It takes up a lot of room anyway.

If you have an open center system, You should be able to tap into the line after the pump with a FEL valve, and from the valve the fluid would connect to the line going to the back. Everything should be in series.

How much extra load will this set up add to your current hyd such as heat dissipation.

Is this a hydro tractor, or gear?

I don't know anything about hydraulics. Such as an open center system. The hydraulics on the tractor now is a 3 point hitch. The hitch powers up but goes down with it's own weight. How will I know which line is after the pump, there is a large line and a smaller one. I have looked at some FEL valves but don't know which one to use. I want everything to work in both directions. I don't know how much extra load the setup will add. The tractor is gears, not hydro. I can post some photos if it will help you to help me. I am 64 years old and this is just a hobby for me because I found it interresting.

Your MTE unit uses an electric motor similar to a starter on a car. They draw lots of amps and are for intermittant use only.

If you have a functional 3PH you might be able to tap into that system. You may want to do some checking to see what pressure your existing 3PH operates at. Some of the older systems only had 600 - 700 PSI.

3 GPM's at 1800 psi.

It will not be fast, but should work,

I had the G172 for a while, and the hydraulics on it ran a loader just fine. Your best bet is to remove the smaller line from the pump. Take that tube into a hydraulic shop and have them cut it and put ends on it so that you can connect hoses to it. Run a hose from the pump side of the newly modified line to the "IN" port on a hydraulic valve. Then run a hose from the "OUT" side of the valve to the other side of the hydraulic line.

This is how my Iseki (Bolens) had been set up and everything worked great. The loader wasn't going to win any speed races, but it did whatever I asked it to.

As a cautionary side note, be careful with the weight you put in your loader. You'll likely be able to lift more weight with your hydraulic system than your front axle is built to handle. Make sure you have a good counter weight on the rear of the tractor, and drive carefully when you have the bucket loaded. A fast bump with a fully loaded bucket can wreak havoc on your front end.

Do post back when you have more questions. This forum is a wealth of knowledge.

Edit: One more thing. Brace yourself when you go in to the hydraulic hose shop. It won't be cheap.
