We are buying a 97 L3600 GST with full cab, loader, R4 tires. Does anyone know rough what the weight of this setup is?

I am just trying to figure out if I need to keep my 25' gooseneck (GVW of 14000, but can haul 11500) to haul the tractor or if my 14' equipment trailer is good enough (GVW of 7000 lbs but can only haul 5500-5700 lbs)

3400 for the tractor alone w/o the loaded tires or cab. Loaders and filled tires are heavy though.

Don't have an exact figure, but you'll probably be somewhere in the 5-6,000 lb range with the cab, FEL + mounting frame + bucket + loaded R4's. If you add an implement on the back, that will have to be figured into the total.

Just as important, the tractor + FEL alone would barely fit on a 14ft. trailer and the trailer wouldn't give you any margin to position the tractor for proper balancing. Your 25 footer may be overkill from a GVW standpoint, but it's pretty much ideal if you ever want to transport the tractor with 1 or more implements.

Thanks guys! I talked with the farmer that rents our fields and he said that once the tractor is delivered I can take it over to his main farm and use their scale to weigh it so I will have a actual weight.

Grandad, I was also thinking about the weight distribution tonight. Once we get the L3600 I am going to play around with loading it onto the 14'er, if I can get away with the weight, to see what I can do with the balance.

I don't haul my L4610 personally - no suitable equipment - but sometimes see landscapers, etc, hauling their equipment. Never saw an L - or similar size JD, NH, etc. - on anything less than a 16' trailer. We do haul my BX2230, which is maybe 1/3 the size of the L, and it absolutely fills up a 10' trailer. Add the FEL and an implement and it hangs over both ends. If hauling the BX were a regular occurrence, I'd be looking at a 14' trailer to use.

I suppose if you need to haul the bare tractor someplace, the 14' would do the job, but if you need to haul it set up to do any work - FEL + blade, FEL + bush hog, etc. - the 14' isn't really going to work very well.

Since I'm really a bystander when it comes to hauling something that size, you should probably take my opinion with a grain of salt, but there is a "Transporting" forum here where you may get some more specific advice from some folks who actually haul equipment like your L.

I also have a BX2230 (also loader, 60" deck, 54" snow plow, 48" tiller). The BX is the reason that I bought the 14' trailer, at the time I had the 25' gooseneck and also a 20' tilt bed equipment trailer (both with 14,000 gvw). I also ways had equipment loaded onto the bigger trailers and I didn't want to unload other equipment just to haul the BX the 4 miles into my house. Once we sold our tandem axle dump truck I also sold the 20' tilt bed and the Ford 545 loader tractor that I had. But I hung onto the gooseneck to haul the S250 Bobcat. But now I am trading the S250 in on the L3600, and will also be putting the BX2230 up for sale very soon.

The dealership is delivering the L3600 tomorrow, so sometime in the near future I will be the L weighed and also see about the weight distribution with it loaded onto the 14'er.
