On my 4-6 week wait. So is it acceptable to call your dealer once a week to see where your tractor is?

It's okay to call your dealer once per week for an update if you don't mind him telling you about the "new stuff" he has which would work really nice on your tractor (in other words, listen to his sales pitches). /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

On thing you might do while you wait is to chant over and over again, "I will take the time to check the tractor thoroughly before using it." Sure, you will want to raise a little dust immediately, but before you get going on a real project, crawl under it, over it, under the hood, and look for loose hardware. I have found several places on my tractor where screws and bolts loosened up or were never tightened. Just yesterday, I found two of the four bolts that hold the front axle to the frame were only finger tight. It's a scary thought to think of your front end coming out from under your tractor on a hillside, so take the time to check your tractor and be sure the factory didn't overlook something. After all, it's your butt that will be in danger if something comes loose. ...by the way, this lecture is free...no charge advice. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

thats why its important to read the owners manuals when you get them because they tell you to periodically check the hardware on your equipment for tightness once in a while.

Steve, to shorten the wait when it comes in, I suggest going to the dealers, borrowing an owners manual, and do the familiarization on a like model. When yours arrives, all you need to do is thoroughly check it over to be sure the mechanics are right. Save some time right there!!!

All this great advice...

Guys,

Thanks, good tips all. I was actually just thinking of tying hom to a spit, laying hime over a fire, and telling him that he can live in the same hell I am in until my baby comes...

In all seriousness, I have been reading the owner's forum, and have already given him a list of the problems folks have seen whne the tractor was "new", or relatively so. He was actually glad to see it, because it makes him more aware of what's going on out in the field. Most folk who own tractors will usually fix minor stuff themselves rather than call in the dealer, and there was alot of stuff going on that he had not heard of. So now he knows, I know he knows, and he knows that I know that he knows. Things should go swell. His prep time will be minimal due to the fact that everything will be factory installed, and he has said that I will get it the day after they do (He's only 6 miles from my house).

In the mean time, I am driving my wife insane. I guess the best thing I can say about that is that it's a good thing I did a better job chosing a wife than she did a husband...

Steve,

I didnt have to wait for mine. It must be awful. I just read your profile and noticed that your got all 72" implements except for a 60" finish mower. Is there a reason you got a lawn mower that wont even cover your tire's tracks?

Re: All this great advice...

Yes,

We have a lot of trees in the area that I will be finish mowing, and the dealer thought it would be a good idea to go with the narrower mower to help protect it from being amputaed when turning or driving by obstacles. I tried the same mower on a TC-40, and it had no problem sucking up the grass mashed down by the tires.

That CAN be modified to read: There are old tractor owners, and there are bold tractor owners, but there are very, very few old bold tractor owners (or bold PRE tractor owners). And they get scarcer every day.
You may wonder why....simple answer, Wife's take umbrage at some of the behavior. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Steve

You can ask your dealer, however, if they are as honest as mine you will just get lip service anyway. I went through the waiting game & waited for over 3 weeks after Griesbach Equipment told me my tractor was built before it showed up on the lot. You figure it out. It doesn't pay to waste your time with these guys.
