I just bought my '13 silverado Z71 last Memorial day and have had a 3.5" lift kit installed, and I just upgraded the tire size to 305-65-18's. So now the odometer is off, which throws off all of the fuel mileage calculations that the computer does. I think there's a parameter in the computer that can be changed to compensate for the new tire size? I imagine it takes one of the diagnostic computers to download any changes to it? If this can be done, can most any competent garage do it, or do I need to see my chevy dealer??

The dealer probably can take care of it or a get a tune but it may void your warranty.

Most tuners can do it if you want to go that route.

By the way, we need pictures.

Here's a quick pic I took of the truck last night, just as it was getting dark. It's still a bit grainy and I had to lighten it up some, but you can get an idea of how it looks now. I bought the rims off of craiglist, that style of rim was actually sold new on older GMC trucks that had the American Luxury Coach package on them. I like the 6 spoke chrome rims, and they were in pretty good shape so I got em. They have brand new Falken WildPeak AT tires on them. I read all of the reviews about that tire that I could find on the internet and everybody had good things to say about them, and almost nobody had anything bad to say about them.

It never occured to me that adding the lift kit and new tires might void the warranty though!! I hope not, will have to call my dealer and ask. The truck did come with a leveling kit and rancho shocks from the factory, they were listed on the window sticker.

I meant a tuner may void the warranty.

I think Pro Comp makes a simple plug and play to recal your speedometer.

Superchips flaspaq, or pay the dealer to do it. That will be a cheaper route!

Nice truck.

Will that void my warranty??

Here is the thing with dealerships and warranty. It depends totally on the dealership. There are mod friendly dealerships and those that are not. GM does not void your warranty claim unless the dealership gives them reason to do so. I have a heavily modded Jeep with the Lifetime warranty they offered in 09. I've had several warranty claims and no questions have been brought up due to my lift, tires, CAI, bumpers, winch...the list goes on and on. If the warranty claim was due to a mod, it will then be denied. For instance. If you install an aftermarket supercharger to your new vehicle and you have engine failure, you can forget it. If you have a mild lift with a tuner for speed calibration, i would not sweat it. You can always remove the tuner and reset it back to factory specs before taking it in if it makes you feel better.Dealerships are in the business of making money. Warranty claims are good revenue for them. They do not want to deny your claim. Visible abuse and no records of service maintenance can put you in the hot seat for a denied claim quickly also. In short, if you keep a clean vehicle with maintenance records and have a friendly relationship with the service dept, you don't have much to worry about. Use good common sense. Don't show up with a long arm lift and 40 inch tires wanting a new tranny and you will be fine.
