- International 1066 Full sized JCB Loader/Backhoe and a John Deere 430 to mow with
I've got an International 1066 with two remotes on the back. It's a dedicated lawn (farm) mower so when I got it two years ago, I set it and forgot it.
I just now got to fixing the hydraulic height cylinders for the mower (15' flexwing that has lift cylinders for the wings AND two cylinders for the cutting height)
I decided I wanted the levers to switch what they moved....so yesterday swapped the hoses to the opposite sides now that my height works.
Lot of accumulated dirt/grime on the outer parts so was able to pull apart but VERY difficult putting back.... spent probably 45 minutes to an hour cleaning it up so I could put the hose back into the remote (with what I think is called a Pioneer adapter in between)
Got it working, lubed.... the balls moving out of the way.... pushed it together. I was able to simply pull it back apart. Tried over & over & over & over.....and to the end I can pull the "properly attached" (or so I think) attachments apart.
I looked at the adapter and noticed that the ridge where the locking ball bearings go is NOT at a 90 degree angle but instead, has a slight slope which could explain how it can slide out (safety thing?)
So I thought.....I know.... I'll start the machine, apply some pressure and the hoses will no doubt be blown out of the fittings once the pressure is applied.
Nope..... each side worked exactly like it's supposed to.
So what I'm now wondering is, SHOULD these be able to be pulled out.... perhaps sort of a quasi 'safety break-away' thing? Or should someone be able to hang on these connections (were they vertical).
Just how tight should the tractor cling to the hose if the hose is being pulled? (could that be a sign that the remote needs some rebuilding?)
