The bulb failures I have observed originate as cracks on the outside where there is no exposure to gas but only to air/ozone and the poor quality rubber can't hold up. I have even seen cracks present as I unpack them from the last supply I bought. Those who have found them to be long-lived must have a better source than I. I bought from e_Replacement parts but I am sticking to my present source.
