1999 Kubota L3710GST
Hi all. I recently bought a used '99 model L3710 GST. I noticed (after the purchase of course) that the ID plate on the folding ROPS doesn't list it as being for the L3710 model. It has

Model: SFL-F33A
Serial: 12267
Mach Model: L2900, L3300, L3010, L3410
Gross Mach Weight: 6618 lbs

Could a couple of you fine people be so kind as to take a peek and see if the specs on yours are the same. Fat lotta good it is going to do if it buckles when you need it most.

SFL-F42, models L3600, L4200, L3710, L4310, gross weight 7983 #'s.

A fully equiped L3710 with FEL, loaded tires and heavy rear implement should be in the 5500 - 6000 # range.

I will give it a check tonight.

For what it's worth, I have a L3410 and that's the ID plate on mine. The ROPS are different between the 3710/4310 and 3010/3410, so it can't be a dealer mistake by putting the lighter ROPS on the heavier tractor, they're not interchangeable.

I have the SFL-F42, also. You may want to talk with a dealer and see if they will trade you for the proper one. My dealer always has a few extra's because of people wanting the folding or non folding ROPS.

Kevin, here is a possible reason for the incorrect ID plate. I looked at my folding ROPS again and the ID plate is on the folding top, so IF the folding tops are interchangeable between 3710/4310 and 3010/3410, that would explain how you have the incorrect ID plate.

The bottom part of the ROPS isn't interchangeable between the 3710/4310 and the 3010/3410 because of the attachment angle to the rear axles. All you would need is the ROPS top with the correct ID plate. Evidently the dealer got them mixed up. If the folding ROPS tops aren't interchangeable, I haven't got a clue.

A status update. I sent a note to Kubota (corporate) asking about this via their web site. It took about 3 weeks, but I got a call from them today confirming that I should have the SFL42 model. They had already called the dealer where I bought the tractor (used) and told me to expect a call from the dealer in the next day or so. I was amazed. This is like...like...customer service. This is like...like...a company that cares. While I'm sure they don't do everything perfectly, today's phone call certainly imporved my view of corporate America, for a while at least. I'll let you know what the dealer says.

I would give Kubota a pat on the back for doing the right thing, but I gotta believe that you’re getting the right treatment because of the liability associated with an incorrect ROPS.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are companies now a days who are re-focusing on customer service and see it as a competitive advantage.

I’m in charge of IT where I work and even though my budget got cut severely, the one project that didn’t lose any funding was a Customer Relationship Management software installation.
