A Memorial Day tribute

This is taps played from the horn and heart of a child, who carries a strong message that is heard around the world, could not have come at a better time?

The Original version of taps was called last Post and was written by Daniel Butterfield in 1801.

It was rather lengthy and formal, as you will hear in this clip, so in 1862 it was shortened to 24 notes and re-named taps.

Melissa Venema is playing it on a trumpet whereby the original was played on a bugle.

Amazingly beautiful .. Melissa Venema, age 13, is the trumpet soloist.

Found this video over the weekend.

Military Videos: "Arlington"

There is a church yard I know about that has to be the prettiest I have ever seen. Large trees surround the church and grave yard. Dogwoods and Redbuds are hear and there. In the spring its beyond pretty. I hope next spring I can get some photos.

Friday we drove by and noticed that flags had been out on the graves of veterans. One grave stone in particular caught my eye. I'll finish processing the photos and post them to this thread this week.
