Well I pulled the trigger tonight and bought a BX1850 with 54" MMM and FEL. Now before flame throwers start on me about the title of this thread, it got your attention didn't it.:D

Light switch is defective so unable to turn off the flashers. Dealer has new switch on order and will install it before i take delivery.

Things I noticed while running it for about 25 minutes.

With no weight on back digging into frozen snow pile on a slight down hill slant the rear lifts pretty easy:eek:

Loader operates very smooth and has very good feathering control.

Yes the reverse is abrupt but I am willing to tinker and remedy this. I have driven JD, Bolens, toro Wheel horse and some are worse than others. NOTE: In doing some research the only item I have found different from the 1850 to the 1860 is the HST dampener. it looks like it mounts different and has different part number. Double note: I am not done digging yet so there may be more items.

I asked the dealer if he could paint it Green and yellow. His response was, no we would have to lower the price.

Now to wait till spring or heavy snow so I can use it:(

Welcome to TBN! and congrats on your new purchase!
As for the rears lifting, you will want to fill the rears with liquid ballast. I am using beetjuice  right now and love it! It really helps with stability keeping the rears planted on the ground esp. when using FEL. We at TBN request pictures of your new toy- err new equipment. :D

Roy,

Congrats on the new machine...That 4way flasher thing is very common when they get wet...Mine does that when I wash it. I disconnect the power from the switch overnight and all is good the next day.

A 3pt implement would help with ballast.
If I'm moving obscene amounts of material, I keep my BH on....A Rake or blade would probably help as well. My tires aren't filled, but that's a good solution.

Pictures, Pictures...We want pictures:D

Congratulations on your new machine.

x2 on tires, I went with weights instead of fluid, but either work well and will more often than not put a BB or something on 3-point hitch.

Congratulations. A boxblade on the back is good weight and can be used for many purposes.

A ballast box or some other heavy implement is required when doing any real FEL work. The tires can be filled but I don't believe that applies as much weight given the small tire size of the BX tires. Besides... It's nice to be able to take the weight off when mowing.

I plan on looking into a tooth bar for FEL and probably trying to find a good used box blade or a weight box for the 3-point. I will have to get my friends scrounging for me on these items. Won't have any pictures until I get the tractor home from the stealer. Probably won't be until late next week.

I presume a 4' Box blade would be the size for this tractor. Seems like Land pride and Woods are the two brands of choice

Will have to see if I can get my old JD to pose with it's new play mate. If this Bota treats me as well as my old Deere I will be a happy man.

Boatbill, I agree with removing the weight when mowing. Why add more ruts that you have too.

Go ahead and fill the rear tires, unless you think you will get alot of flats. Rimguard is the beet juice product. The tires are big enough to make a huge difference, plus the weight is down low and at the back where it helps the most. It also helps with the stability.

A tip with the HST pedal, try just lifting the forward pedal with your toe to back up, for some reason that seems to make it smoother.

Congrats on the purchase, you going to love it.

Good advice. yup fill them tires. If it still at the dealer, why not have them do it before you bring it home? be sure you request not to have calcuim chloride stuff. I would hate to have it leak onto my lawn.
