Hello, new here! I have been lurked for so long and finally got the courage to join. Here is a little about my and my green. I bought my very first John Deere almost one year ago. Hard to believe how time flies. I stumbled on this GT275 by accident, was not even looking for a mower at all. I happen to drive by a street I had NEVER been on and someone was having a garage/yard sale. I just drove by when something caught my eye. I drove back, and sure enough, I saw what looked like a riding mower. I talked to an older gentleman and he told me it was a GT275 that he bought brand spanking new in 1997. I asked him how much, and he $450. Now, you had to been there to see this thing. It had a blown rear tire, mismatched front tires, no hood whatsoever, the seat was all torn, was missing a tail light, was missing a deck anti-scalp wheel, had no battery, and was very very dusty and dirty. I have NO IDEA what it was about this monstrosity, but I was hooked. It was love at first sight. I told him, $400 delivered to my house since I did not have a truck or trailer at the time. He agreed. Total Awesomeness.
I did not take pictures of when I first got it :confused2: But, not much has changed until recently, these last week. This is how it looks like now. Trust me, it looks 10 times better now then when I first saw it, so you can imagine how it looked.
This was today, had just mowed about 3 acres on some brand new rear tire set that I bought for $42 shipped.
Heres the rear, missing a tail light, notice the one it does have is being held with duct tape. That was not me, it was already like that.
By some miracle, I was able to find a hood for the GT275, it is completely broken of course, but it is better than nothing, and for $15, I cant complain. The lower hood is broken at the hinges, but I dont use the hinges, I just need to buy an upper hood. The grill and headlights are good. Noticed I reused some duct tape from the tail lights to keep some of the upper hood from breaking the lower hood
It is starting to look like a Deere again. The mower runs, mows, and drives very good, it never skips a beat.........................once it starts. This is the only problem I have with it, but I will be hopefully be fixing this very shortly with the help of all you good and knowledgeable people. Takes me about a minute to start it. But once it does, can mow a whole 4 acres or a full tank whichever comes first.
This thing is old and ugly, but I love her. And I will make her beautiful again. Long live the green!
