Wondering if any of you guys have even seen any tires in this size?
I know they make a 8R19.5 which is about as wide as a 205/70R19.5. They make 245/70R19.5s which are a little wider that a 9R19.5 would be, and 265/70R19.5, which is about as wide as a 10R19.5 would be. 285/70R19.5s are about as tall as the 9R19.5s would be, and 305/70R19.5s are a little shorter that 10R19.5s would be, they are just both wider. 255/70R22.5 tires have the width and height that a 10R19.5 would have, they are just low-pro tires and have a shorter side wall, which I don't want.

I know they make all of the above sizes except for 9R19.5 and 10R19.5. So they make tires in the widths I want, and in the heights I want, I just can't find a tire that has both. The 285/70R19.5 and 305/70R19.5 are in the height range I am looking for, they are just getting really wide to be running as duals.

So do any of you know if they make such a size? Or is this just wishful thinking on my part.

I,m not sure what your use would be for these tire's but I can tell that for years I've been buying 225/70/19.5 as a direct replacement for 8r19.5 with great success.I purchase at least 6 of these per week for are fleet of trucks. they are a little wider if room is no problem that is what I would use and never look back. wear is much better,casing are a plenty, most of the time free of charge if you get a recap.225/70/19.5 work very well for me as duals and
with a much wider selection of tire companys than a 8r19.5

Just out of curiosity, what is your application and what are you trying to accomplish? Are you setting up something from scratch or switching tires and rims? You say you desire a certain width and height, or is it just that you want to stay away from 70 profile tires? Since you mention 22.5 tires are you considering switching to this diameter rim? Even if they made a 10R tire, you wouldn't want to put it on the same rim as an 8R.

Michelin makes 235/80R22.5 which would give you the height you desire in an 80 profile tire. As a compromise, there are a number of manufacturers who build tires in the 245/75/22.5 size and they will be considerably cheaper than something you can only get in one or two brands.

You don't mention what load capacity you require, but in general redharley is giving you good advice. I wouldn't go with some one-off manufacturer tire or any size that may soon become obsolete; you will only have problems at replacement time or end up paying big $$$$. I wouldn't be afraid of the lower profile tires if you can get the load capacity you need in a common size that's widely available at a good price.

This is something I am hoping to set up from scratch in a few years, and am thinking things through now, and deciding just what I want, so when the time comes I am ready. The truck would be a ranch truck with a GVWR between 16k and 22k I'm thinking, but am not sure yet. It will have a dumping flatbed on the back with tool boxes mounted underneath and a winch mounted on the front. It would be used year round pulling large trailers and hauling things on the bed, plus plowing snow all winter. I am looking for tires with at least a 5k rating.

Being able to not get stuck in a wet field with a large trailer, or in 6" of mud is very important. Having seen how 225s do on F450s and 550s in the mud I know I want something wider to keep the front from sinking. What you guys say about going with some one-off manufacturer is true.

I may go with 22.5 rims, but I was kinda hoping to avoid the extra rotating mass and everything that goes with having larger tires. It is looking like my best bet will be to go with 10R22.5 and set the truck up to handle the 40" tires and the larger rotating mass.

Thanks a lot for you advice. What you guys say is kinda what I was figuring, but I wanted to make sure.

If you are looking in the future you are wasting your time. Who knows what it will be in the future. Just a few years ago for example all trucks ran 15" wheels and tires. Now days its not uncommon to see 17-20" wheels from the factory. Heck, my 08 Nissan Titan came from the factory with 33" MT tires. I remember when 260HP was a big number out of a diesel or V8 gas motor. Now 4 cylinders are making way more than than. I have a 07 BMW with a 3.0L 6 cylinder making 300 + HP from the factory.

Not trying to start a argument here but things change so fast with these trucks its nuts. No reason looking ahead.

While the light truck tires have changed quite a bit, the larger trucks have stayed with 19.5, 22.5, or 24.5 rims, depending on how big the truck is, since they switched from the 20" Dayton stile to the xx.5 Bud stile many years ago. I don't think they are likely to change now unless there is a huge difference in something new.

We just moved from 8R's to 225/70 19.5 on the 454 TBI 1992 P30 Chassis and the 4L80 automatic before our recent 8000 trip. Ride was better and the smaller size bumped the engine RPM up 300+ and gave us 1.5+ better MPG. Before in OD the TC was always unlocking and dropping out of OD but that is no longer the case.

Lowering the gearing by 2.5% was just what the 15K pound MH needed. Was shocked higher RPM's equalled marked better MPG and overall performance. We went the Kumho
