Does anyone on the forum own a 990? If you do would you be willing, at your convenience to do some measurements on your ROPS. I purchased a 990 and the previous owner had cut the ROPS so that it would fit in a 7 foot garage. I am trying to determine how much they actually cut off of the ROPS. I would like to put it back to its original height. To buy a new one is close to $600 and I am trying to determine if having someone come up with the steel and the labor to put it back to its original height is less expensive then buying a new one. In the end I would like to put a canopy on it.

Thanks

Rob

I looked at 990's and 4005's recently with concerns of the ROPS height.
From what I found height to the top of the ROPS should be 84 in with R4 tires and 85 in with Ag tires. Hope that helps.

nwalabama, Thanks. That is what the specs say. However I would like to get an actual measurement from where it is attached to the tractor frame. Then I will have a good reference point for the true height and then I can determine how much they really cut off of it.

If you are fabricating instead of going by original specs try this. Take a measurement with yourself in the seat to the top of your noggin. From there draw an imaginary line from the front of the hood to the rear of the tractor angling up as you go back using your first measurement as a ref you now know how high it should be for you. The original rops would have been an OSHA only aproved rop as opposed to a ASAE rops which was a taller rops if you drew the same imaginary line I mentioned. (I may have OSHA and ASAE backwards as far as wich one is taller). FYI an interesting side note, Deere sells these rops for cost even though nearly $600 sounds expensive the dealer makes no profit.

The uprights on my 1070's ROPS are 64 3/16 inches tall. This is the height from the very top of the upright to the very bottom of the upright where it rests on the attachment bracket bolted to the underside of the rear wheel axle. I would think your 990 and my 1070 used the same ROPS since they are very similar in size. Hope this helps.

Thanks SJhulsmn for doing the measurement for me. I greatly appreciate it.
